Light in spirit with lifted raspberries, spiced orange, bright cedar tones, faint vanilla & caramel notes. Palate is bright and cheery, showy and present with bursting berries, rounded with caramel on a light body.  Coming from the hillside vineyards of Rioja Alavesa, the Rioja sub-zone that lies in the Basque region.  "Chatxo" is derived from a Basque form of the Spanish word Muchacho, meaning young man.  The freshness layered with depth of character is a hallmark of the Rioja Alavesa region. 100% Tempranillo from 50-year old dry-farmed bush vines on the slopes of Sierra Cantabria in villages including Samaniego and Laguardia.
